Zimbra

Thanks to everyone who attended last nights first SF Tech Session and to Niall for inviting Zimbra to participate. Zimbra was formed in late 2003 and worked in stealth mode until our beta launch at Web 2.0. Zimbra’s community has grown significantly since our beta launch. Hundred’s of community members participate in our forums daily, providing feedback and helping shape the future of Zimbra. With the help of the community, we released our GA version in early February. Each month more than 15k people download the Zimbra Collaboration Suite. Future releases of Zimbra will include enhanced mobility support, advanced collaboration features and native sync capabilities for Mac users.

A couple people asked about the demo PC last night. Nothing too fancy; IBM Thinkpad T42 2.0GHz, 1gig RAM. So about half the speed of your new MacBook Pro. For those who wish to try out the demo for yourself, you can. Just login to our hosted demo. No sign in is required.

We also just announced our Zimlet Competition. The best Zimlet’s entered will have a chance to an Intel iMac or an iPod. So take all those ideas in your head and get them into code. It may score you some new Apple hardware.
